About Pastor Gabe Moya...
How I met my wife: It was a set up--through
mutual friends/pastors. It’s a fun story; you should ask me some time.
Nobody knows that: If
I revealed that, then everybody will know!
Education: B.A.,
Northwest University; M.Div., North American Baptist Seminary.
How I Became a Christian:
Through the influence of my parents, age 12 at Bayview Chapel (A/G) in Kaneohe,
HI.
How I came to be in this District:
We were invited by the District Chi Alpha Rep., Rick Rudquist, and some students
at UNC.
The best thing about being a Christian:
That, “in Him I live and move and exist” (Acts 17.28)
Favorite Movie: Good A/G
boys don’t watch movies!
Favorite Place: The
Olympic National Forest
Favorite Food: Japanese
and Hawaiian
How I spend my days off:
Whoever heard of such a thing?
My funniest experience:
At a clothing store. Tried on trousers in the fitting room—stepped out for
Trish’s opinion—stepped back in, removed trousers—donned new shirt—stepped out
of the fitting room for Trish’s opinion—she thought it went well with my paisley
BOXERS—as did, I surmised, a couple of ladies who moseyed on by me.
Personal project I can’t wait to finish:
That doctoral program… someday!
My first job: In which I
paid taxes? Legal messenger for a law firm in Honolulu.
Best childhood memory:
After school adventures with my brothers
Most powerful book I’ve ever read (besides the
Bible) and why: I can only answer that in terms of the
most recent powerful book I’ve read and that would be Bonhoeffer’s Ethics.
I am drawn to his view that what is wrong with humanity is its persistence in
trying to “eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”
What will I ask Jesus when we meet?:
I’m afraid that will be the only time when I will be, appropriately, speechless.
My prized possessions: My
books and my guitar
Spiritual gifts:
Teaching, wisdom (apparently not humility)
A time when I felt very close to God:
At my wedding and at the births of our children
I would love to meet:
Among the Living—the current Pope; Not-Among-the-Living—St. Paul
I would appreciate prayer for:
My family and students
